How a HEIDENHAIN Retrofit Works
Machine and application assessment
We evaluate the machine’s electromechanical condition, current control and feedback systems, required axes and functions, production goals, and available documentation. A retrofit should begin only after the machine is confirmed to be a sound candidate.
Scope and proposal
We develop the proposed control architecture and identify drives, motors, feedback devices, operator components, safety work, wiring, software, and mechanical repairs that may be required.
Installation and commissioning
Many retrofits can be completed at the customer’s facility. The location, access plan, production constraints, and acceptance process are defined before work begins.
Geometry and production verification
After commissioning, we verify machine functions and geometry, then support production prove-out using an agreed acceptance plan.
Training and handoff
We provide onsite training appropriate to the project and can help coordinate additional HEIDENHAIN training when required.
HEIDENHAIN Scale and Encoder Service
Position-feedback problems can appear as accuracy loss, intermittent alarms, axis faults, or inconsistent machine behavior. Founders CNC uses dedicated HEIDENHAIN diagnostic equipment to evaluate feedback systems. When condition, available time, parts, and design permit, we rebuild and calibrate scales in house and work to restore them toward applicable factory specifications. When replacement is the better option, we can source eligible HEIDENHAIN components through our dealer channel. When a feedback problem stops production, our emergency CNC repair service troubleshoots the complete machine. A preventive maintenance program can include HEIDENHAIN encoder and scale evaluation where applicable.
Is My Machine a Good Retrofit Candidate?
A retrofit is most attractive when the machine’s iron, mechanics, and application still justify investment but the control, drives, feedback system, or maintainability limits production. During evaluation we consider machine condition, documentation, parts availability, desired capabilities, expected service life, downtime, and the cost of replacement.
Training and Support
HEIDENHAIN offers technical training in control operation, programming, setup, optimization, servicing, encoder diagnostics, PLC programming, and system configuration. Founders CNC will define onsite handoff training in the project scope and can help identify additional training options for operators and maintenance personnel.

Often, yes. The approved project plan will define whether onsite installation is practical and what access, utilities, production downtime, and customer support are required.

What warranty applies?
Founders CNC provides a 30-day labor warranty. New and refurbished parts carry the applicable manufacturer or supplier warranty.
